As an artist and bookbinder I seek innovative solutions to meet the unique needs of my customers.
Besides purely functional products such as pads, diaries, journals, book covers, albums and boxes, I also bind small editions of printed material in suitable techniques. I have worked with a number of museum shops and designed separate products or entire collections.
My special interest is designing products for display and storage, such as portfolios and various types of cases and albums for graphics and lithographs. Technique, content and design work together to make the perfect product!
Handcraft is the cornerstone of my work but not a goal in itself – design is what makes the product.
I produce my own exhibitions as well as participate in other exhibitions and contests arranged by Swedish organisations and those abroad. The last few years I have had the privilege of binding a numbered and signed series of Nobel Prize Winners in Literature, which are displayed annually at the Nobel Museum in Stockholm, Sweden.
I have researched historical techniques at the archives in Stockholm and abroad. Much of my inspiration comes from the ingenious techniques which were invented during a time in history when there was not an abundance of materials.
I give courses in various bookbinding techniques and my publishing company, Langwe Form, gives out books on bookbinding and paper.
